Satbayev University has opened a new milestone: the first graduates of double-degree programs defended in Moscow

Undergraduate student Azamat Tulegenov became the first graduate of "Extractive metallurgy" double-degree program, implemented by Satbayev University National Research Technological University "MISA" (Moscow). The given event marked the beginning of a new page in evolving the department's Master's degree program. Thanks to cooperation with the world's leading universities, undergraduates gain access to innovative laboratories and relevant technological elaborations.

For the first time, the work of a master's student on "Studying the technology of processing pyrite concentrates to produce iron oxide pigment" topic was led by two scientists. The scientific supervisor of the work from the Kazakh side was Tatiyana Chepushtanova, head of MPTEM laboratory, Professor at Satbayev University, who noted that the successful defense was the work result of three departments:

– Initially, the program was opened at Department of metallurgical processes, heat treatment and technologies of special materials, and Department of metallurgy and mineral processing became the graduate. From the Russian side, we worked with Non-ferrous Metals and Gold Department. I think this is the first, but not the last, master's student, and we will do everything to ensure that the program exists and develops," said Tatiyana Alexandrovna.

On the Russian side, the scientific guidance was provided by Associate Professor Olga Krivolapova (UST MISA).

In addition to defending the “Extractive Metallurgy” program, in 2025 “Metallurgy and Mineral Processing Department” will also graduate undergraduates in “Mineral Processing” program, implemented jointly with Tomsk Polytechnic University. A total of five graduates will receive diplomas from two universities this year.

Double-degree educational programs are becoming an important tool for integrating Kazakhstani engineering education into the international academic space. The first graduation of masters with two diplomas is an indicator of the university's maturity as a participant in the international educational and scientific community.
