Satbayev University Student Wins in the International Project “Turn It Around”
Second-year student and future robotics specialist Bekarys Amangeldy has become a winner of the international project “Turn It Around!”, dedicated to developing educational flashcards. The initiative is implemented by the Central Asian Platform for Sustainability Unlock (CAPS Unlock) under the auspices of UNESCO.
The Turn It Around project (in Russian — “Central Asian Climate Flashcard Deck”) is carried out by the UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty. The competition brought together 935 young authors from Central Asian countries, who submitted over 1,000 creative works. From these, 67 best entries were selected for inclusion in the final flashcard deck.
The deck has been developed in six languages — Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik, Uzbek, Russian, and English. It serves both as an educational resource and a tool for shaping climate policy, helping young people understand the consequences of climate change in clear and accessible language.
The text by Bekarys Amangeldy, written as part of the Academic Writing course under the supervision of Professor Sholpan Adibayeva from the Department of Kazakh and Russian Languages, was included in the project’s final creative selection. His achievement not only reflects a high level of academic preparation, but also highlights the university’s contribution to fostering environmental awareness among the new generation of engineers — those capable of combining technology and sustainability for the benefit of the planet’s future.
